When people talk or even just think about addiction recovery, they automatically think about the detox process and an in-patient recovery program where the person struggling with addiction will have to go through the withdrawal symptoms and then through a series of therapies so that they can get in the right mindset not to consume alcohol again. Although this is an extremely important part of the process, people tend to forget about the ongoing struggle that a person’s life can be once they are clean from drugs.
It is not at all uncommon to see people relapse and go back to using, even after completing such a program and feeling absolutely certain that they would never drink again. This is why it is also extremely important to consider that part of the recovery process will be the group therapies that should continue on as an after-care service that will help people who have struggled with addiction. Whenever they start attending group sessions, they will find they can relate easily to other people in the room because they have been through similar situations. The best part is that the support these people might bring can make the whole difference.
We strive to make sure we can keep offering this support web to people who have already gotten past the first part of the recovery process. This is why we have a series of Networking Events programmed throughout the year where people have the opportunity to mingle and meet others who might be able to help and even people who they can help, making them feel appreciated and valued. These events are not solely for people who have struggled with addiction. Everyone is welcome and we try to make it fun and interesting for people to meet others and learn from each other.
